CCDP Phd Student Dympna Leonard has been awarded a NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship worth at total of $93,777.33 in funding for her project "So like your Mum! Is the health of mothers in far north Queensland reflected in the nutrition and growth of their children in early life?"
Dympna is an experienced nutritionist and her research will provide important information on the following:
- Prevalence of anaemia among FNQ Indigenous mothers and their babies.
- Key risk factors for anaemia in mothers and their young children in this setting.
- Information for planning interventions to prevent anaemia
- Baseline information for evaluation of increased service provision for mothers and their children, provided by the different community controlled services in FNQ in recent years
